5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Compilation of Original Music from a Great Soundtrack   July 29, 2010
Mr. Laurence Williams (UK)
This compilation from the fantastic film 'Watchmen' (see my review) captures all the notable original-artist music and adds an extra track from the associated disc 'Tales of the Black Freighter' :

Watchmen - Director's Cut [Blu-ray] [2009] [US Import]
Watchmen - Tales Of The Black Freighter [Blu-ray] [2009]

I think the only track 'missing' is '99 Red Balloons', used at the start of the "Diner Rendezvous" scene albeit for less than 30s.

Amazingly, this disc bucks the 'norm' for soundtrack compilations by having all the tracks in the same order as they appear in the film, save for the opening track (which actually appears last in the film !).

The reproduction quality is very good and listening this disc really does prompt recollections of the movie. By listening to it I also discovered that a long section, 'Pruit Igoe & Prophecies', which I thought was original score is actually by the Philip Glass Ensemble; it is the background to a scene featuring 'Dr Manhattan' and is quite superb.

If you loved the film and thought the soundtrack was good then CD is a must !

5 out of 5 stars Gr8 Cd   January 14, 2010
T Leahy
I saw the movie which i was not impressed with- and just indurded it because the soundtrack was so good- so hence the buying of this- i love the tracks on it- the main one i was after was the Sounds of Silence which was one this, all in all Gr8 cd- -

3 out of 5 stars Listen to The Watchmen   January 2, 2010
A. J. Moore (Britain)
This is a wonderfully eclectic mix of music and whoever chose these pre-exiting tracks for use in the movie did a tremendous job. Indeed, if you haven't seen the film you'll probably find the soundtrack incomprehensible. The music veers, in a very Noir way, from the Ride of the Valkyries to L Cohen's Hallelulah via Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole. There is a kind of dark, Gotterdammerung yearning throughout, which illuminates the ending of the days of The Comedian and Rorschach, their colleagues and their children and takes me straight back to the movie every time I hear the CD. A bit like the soundtrack to Apocalypse Now! did, all those years ago. Actually, the soundtrack is (ahem ...) rather better than the movie. It's good driving music (although I recommend skipping the Ride of the Valkyries if you're gridlocked and waiting for the Dartford Xing).

4 out of 5 stars a really good CD   December 8, 2009
Edward Miles (London)
I think this is a really good CD with some absolute stonking good tracks on it but if like your a really good rock fan then there are a few really bad ones. My advice to you is to not buy the CD i think that you should just pick and choose from the amazon mp3 store as you get all the ones that you want and don't have to get the others that you don't want.
