5 out of 5 stars dramatic music   March 16, 2010

Fantastic for the young fan of the Doctor who does there own takes. Also great music just to play. I imagine drama and music teachers could make good use of it too as it's charged with atmoshere and emotion.

5 out of 5 stars a clever eclectic!   July 17, 2009

This is the strongest of all of Murray Gold's soundtracks so far and demonstrates a wide range of styles which fits with the range of times covered in the Doctor Who programmes. The intricate harmonies are at times haunting, others awe inspiring whilst the atonalness gound in Davros' theme just make the hairs on the back of your neck rise up. An excellent soundtrack which is constantly on the cd player!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent stuff from Murray Gold, as always, plus Oodsong!   February 27, 2009

The only reason I didn't give this a full five stars is because I felt so much of the music was scene-specific. That is, any given track on this album is perfect for the mood of what's happening onscreen at the time when you're watching the show, but I wouldn't necessarily listen to every single track simply for the sheer pleasure of it. (Although there are a lot of tracks on this album I would listen to for the pure enjoyment thereof.) Also, I thought perhaps a couple more tracks might've been included; there was a Dalek theme or two I would've liked to have on the disc, but I guess you can't have everything.

And now, I'm going to throw a little bone to anyone else out there who (like me) doesn't have broadband and the latest lightning-fast computer, for whom it takes half an hour to load a three-minute clip of anything. If you're looking for Oodsong, this is the album to get. The tracks you Oodophiles want are "Songs of Captivity and Freedom" and "Song of Freedom." When I ordered this disc, shortly before Chirstmas, nobody had said in their reviews whether or not there was any Ood music on this album. And so I thought I'd clear that up.

Happy listening!

4 out of 5 stars Best series of Doctor Who so far... and the bset music.   February 17, 2009

Series Four of the 'new' Doctor Who may well have been the best of the bunch so far & the music doesn't disappoint.
